Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop 2016

Hello!   Have you joined in the Coffee Lovers Bloghop this time around?   I'm a bit late with my entry - for some reason I thought it began THIS Friday, not last Friday, lol!    It pays to use that expensive planner on my desk, lol!

In any case, I had just recceived the adorable Fall Fox stamp set by Sugarpea Designs in one of my orders from Butterfly Reflections, Ink.    I couldn't wait to use it, and the little fox with his coffee cup was the perfect image to ink up for this hop!!!

I stamped the fox onto kraft paper and colored him in with my Polychromos colored pencils.   I outlined him with a warm grey Copic marker to make him pop!

The patterned papers are by Echo Park - this paper pad is by far my most used.....EVER!   I love it - it is Fall perfection!

I'm also entering this card in the Sugarpea Designs Mix It Up Challenge #17

Stamptember & Newton's Nook!

Happy STAMPtember!!   I'm so excited to share with you a card I've created using the brand new & exclusive Newton's Nook & Simon Says Stamp collaboration stamp & die set for STAMPtember - Bushels of Love!

Bushel of Love Card by Kimberly Rendino | Simon Says Stamp | Stamptember | Newton's Nook Designs | fall | autumn | cardmaking | papercraft | clear stamps | stamping | handmade card

I started by die cutting the Simon Says Stamp Thanks Scallop Border  and the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border and used a variety of Distress Inks to blend my green grass and blue sky.   I added a bit of masking paper along the border while blending to keep the scallop detail nice and white!

I stamped and colored the adorable raccoon and bear with Copic markers, and added a tiny bit of the Distress Ink colors to the white around the edges so that they would blend into the scene better.  I tucked in one of the mushrooms, coated with Glossy Accents for shine, behind the hill  (I cut the shorter mushroom off).

Bushel of Love Card by Kimberly Rendino | Simon Says Stamp | Stamptember | Newton's Nook Designs | fall | autumn | cardmaking | papercraft | clear stamps | stamping | handmade card

I added some solid green paper behind the die cut word, adhered the panel to a piece of paper from the Echo Park Fall is in the Air 6x6 paper pad, and added some Wink of Stella glitter pen and Glossy Accents to the letters.

These stamps and dies are just the cutest for fall cardmaking!!   Make sure you stop by Simon Says Stamp to get your Bushels of Love stamp/die set - it's an exclusive and once it sells out, it's gone for good!
Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of the new STAMPtember goodies!  If you are interested, you can also find me on Instagram and Facebook!

Thanks for stopping by, crafty friends!   I hope your Monday is off to a fantastic start!

I did a bit of masking to stack my animals....what a cute band, eh?!   I used Distress Markers for the coloring.   I love the softly colored look - and it's a one layer card too!   Can't get much simpler than that!

Get Your Twinkle On - DIY Galaxy Bottles with CAS-ual Fridays!

Hi guys!   I have a fun tutorial for you today - mini galaxy bottles!    These are so super cute - they'd make great party favors, or just something to give to a friend as a little reminder that they mean the world to you!   I enlisted my kids' help to make these, and they had a blast!

diy galaxy bottles by Kimberly Rendino | stamping | handmade | clear stamps | galaxy | galaxy bottles | nebula bottles | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreatiity.blogspot.com

Here's what you'll need - Distress Ink re-inkers, glitter, cotton balls, a skewer, water and a bottle (any kind will do as long as it has a resealable cap - I've made these larger and they're awesome too)!

Start by adding in a bit of water to the bottle and then squeeze a drop or two of Distress Ink reinker into your bottle.   Add a shake of glitter and mix it with the skewer.

Next, add some cotton balls to the bottle.  I like to stretch mine out - I just like the way it looks better in the bottle, but you don't have to do this!   Push the cotton down into the water with the skewer.   Keep adding cotton until most of the water is absorbed.  Next, add some more water, a different color reinker and more glitter.   Add cotton and gently push it down with the skewer (so you don't mix the colors too much).   Keep going with as many layers of color/cotton as you like, till the bottle is full!

To make my bottles even cuter, I wanted to add a meaningful sentiment to them - but I definitely didn't want to cover too much of the fun galaxy!   I decided to stamp a sentiment from the CAS-ual Fridays 'Twinkle' stamp set onto a strip of acetate using Staz-On white ink.   **TIP**  Add a piece of removable adhesive to the backside of the acetate while stamping.   Staz-On & acetate are quite a combo, and the acetate wants to lift.   Repositionable adhesive keeps things in place while you're working!!

I wrapped the sentiment strips around the bottles and adhered them with a glue dot.   Voila!   A sweet message that doesn't obscure the galaxy!

My little bottles had a date code on the top that I wanted to cover up, so I did some quick distress ink blending (using the same colors I added to the water for my galaxy bottles) on a sheet off adhesive label paper.   I stamped some of the stars from 'Twinkle' with Versamark, added white embossing powder and heat set it.   I punched 1" circles from the label paper and adhered them to the top of the bottles.

Sunny Studio Fisthtail Banner Die Challenge!

Hello there, friends!   Happy Friday!   I am sitting here, drinking my pumpkin spice coffee and enjoying the wonderful fall weather here in NY.    The leaves aren't yet changing, but fall is on my mind, so when thinking of what kind of card I wanted to enter for the Sunny Studio Fishtail Banner Challenge, of course I chose an autumn one!

autumn card by Kimberly Rendino | handmade card | cardmaking | papercraft | Sunny Studio Stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

I started by stamping the GORGEOUS fall leaves from the Sunny Studio Autumn Splendor stamp set on a piece of cream cardstock.  Next, I used the two stitched/pierced Fishtail Banner II dies and ran them through my die cutting machine repeatedly to create the fun texture.  I finished the die cutting with the scalloped die.  I added a few flecks of gold paint to the panel and then mounted it on foam adhesive to a piece of fun autumn patterned paper from Echo Park.

Thanks for stopping by!

Newton's Nook Designs September Release - Newton's Boo-tiful Night

We've reached the final day of reveals!   The new NND stamps and dies will be available for purchase tomorrow, September 16!   Today we have a fun Newton set to show you - Newton's Boo-tiful Night!

Newton's Boo-tiful Night card by Kimberly Rendino | Newton's Nook Designs | witch | bats | stenciled background | distress ink | halloween | handmade card | cardmaking | stamping | papercraft | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

How cute is witchy Newton?!   I colored him in with Copis and used my Scan n Cut machine to cut him out.  I created the background by doing some ink blending with Distress Ink and  a fun stencil from Winnie & Walter.   I stamped one of the bats from Newton's Boo-tiful Night in every other circle of my stenciled background.  I had to pull a little more purple into the card, so I stamped the sentiment on a purple strip and adhered Newton to it with foam adhesive.  I love the fun lime green & purple combination for Halloween!

Welcome back!   Today we have the second reveal for Newton's Nook Designs September release - and it's my favorite of the whole release!   Introducing What A Hoot and coordinating dies!

owl card by Kimberly Rendino | Newton's Nook Designs | owl | leaves | autumn | fall | handmade card | papercraft | stamping | cardmaking | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

Owls are my absolute favorite!   I stamped and colored this cute little guy with Copic markers and die cut him with the coordinating die.   The branch and leaves included in the die set make it easy to create a fun scene in no time!   I used some patterned paper from Echo Park to add to the fall feel - I am in love with this paper pad at the moment, lol!   All that was left to do was add a little bit of ink blending to the kraft cardstock before adhering my owl.

Doxie handmade card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | newton's nook | pirate | halloween | dog | handmade card | stamping | papercrafts | cardmaking

I wanted to use the set in a sort of non-Halloween manner, so I took the pirate doxie and created a nautical themed card!   I stamped and colored the cute pup with Copics and used my Scan n Cut to cut him out.   The rest of the card came together easily with some fun patterned paper!

Happy Harvest

Hello!   Today I have a card to share using the awesome Falling Into Autumn stamp set from Newton's Nook.   To really let the stamps shine, I kept my background simple.

autumn leaves | fall | stamping | cardmaking | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | newton's nook | watercolor | distress ink | distress ink smooshing | colorblocking | papercraft | clear stamps | handmade card

I smooshed several shades of Distress Ink onto a small stamp block and spritzed with water.   I pressed the stamp block onto my watercolor paper and carefully lifted.   I did this four times with a variety of Distress Ink colors.   Once the ink had dried, I stamped several of the leaf images as well as a sentiment from Falling Into Autumn with brown ink.

I finished the card by trimming the watercolor paper down and creating a 5.5 x 5.5 square card.

Hope you've enjoyed my card today - thanks for stopping by!

Whimsy Stamps Product Spotlight Guest - School Time!

Hi friends!   I'm stopping by with a cute back to school card.   I know a lot of you probably have already sent your kids back to school, but here in the northeast, our kids go back in September.   My kids' first day is next Thursday, so this week is a mad dash for last minute supplies, figuring out first day outfits, and soaking up the last bit of summer!

My card uses the super cute School Time stamp set by Whimsy Stamps.   I did a bit of masking with the books, pencil cup and mouse - isn't he so cute perched atop the stack of books?   I added some accents to the card in the form of ruler washi tape (in my stash for ages - I was so glad to finally use it!), and Glossy Accents for the studious mouse's glasses!
