Newton's Nook Designs June Reveal - Fetching Friendship

It's day two of the June NND reveal!   Today's set is called Fetching Friendship.....and it's a must-have for dog lovers!!

Fetching Friendship card by Kimberly Rendino | Newton's Nook Designs | labrador |

The pink ombre heart background was created with a Tim Holtz stencil and embossing paste tinted with various Distress Ink refills.  The adorable lab was colored with Copics and fussy cut.   I'm calling this lab "Gracie" in honor of my best friend's dog....and trust, me, Gracie is a girlie-girl so she needed that paper pieced flower collar, lol!  This sentiment is one of my all-time favorites.....so perfect for us animal lovers!!

The new sets will be for sale tomorrow!  How exciting!

Newton's Nook Designs June Release - In Slow Motion

Hello and welcome to Day 1 of the Newton's Nook Designs June release!  We have some super cute new sets for you this month....starting with "In Slow Motion"!

snail mail card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs

OMG!   That snail!  I couldn't wait to ink her up.   I started with a plain piece of cardstock and added a cute stamp-style sticker by SEI in the upper right corner (the polka dot border strips are from SEI too!).   The canceled mail stamp (snail mail!  how cute is that?!) was stamped with Staz-On so it didn't smear on the slick surface of the sticker.   I used my own handwriting for the to/from and then stamped some of the hearts included in the set.   The adorable little snail was colored with Copics and a HEAVY layer of Wink of Stella glitter pen on the shell.   A coating of Glossy Accents finished it off!

Lunchbox Notes!

Hi guys!   I'm up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog today with these cute li'l lunchbox notes.   I was in the mood to create something smaller scale, so these notes were the perfect thing!   I'm sure my daughter will love finding them in her lunch bag.

For this first note I used the cute tiny hot air balloons and the cloud from Newton Dreams of Paris.    The embossed sentiment is from Delightful Doxies.  Of course there's some Wink of Stella on the hot air balloons for shimmer!!

This next note also features the Delightful Doxies stamp set for both the kite and the sentiment.

These were quick and easy to make....the only thing I did that took any time at all was masking the clouds so they'd appear in the background.

Have a great day.....and I'll see you next week for the June NND sneaks and reveal!  Woo-hoo!

Summer Coffee Lovers Bloghop!

Hello fellow coffee lovers!   I'm so excited that it's time for the SUMMER Coffee Lovers Bloghop!  It's always a ton of fun to participate in these hops and to check out everyone's awesome creations!   I'm super late getting my entry in - last I checked there were over 200 cards already!   That's a lot of coffee, peeps!

Coffee card by Kimberly Rendino | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

Here's my contribution....I went with Starbucks green....love it!   I stamped on kraft and colored with Inktense pencils.   The center stitched rectangle (from Lawn Fawn) is layered for dimension.  I wish I could tell you who made the stamps, but I have no clue!  I've had them in my stash for ages.

Hmmm....now I'm thinking about Starbucks.   And a S'mores Frappuccino.   Oh man, could I go for one of those right now!   Have you seen the adorable mini size they have now?  It's perfect and I don't feel so guilty for having one, lol!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have fun hopping along!!

Watercolor Blog Hop!

Woo-hoo, it's Friday, people!   Thank heavens....I've had a rough week.   My computer's hard drive went kaput, so I lost a TON of photos and had to spend loads of time reinstalling programs, etc. UGH!  And I also lost my Photoshop Elements, so I'm looking for a new editing program.   Any suggestions are welcome!   I tried PicMonkey for today's card....

So - on to today's card for the Watercolor Blog Hop!   I used my new Zig Real Brush markers to create a soft purple and teal watercolor background and then went over it with some Perfect Pearls Mist.   The feathers, from the Jane's Doodles 'Wise Owl' set were embossed with black embossing powder.   To add some interest to the card, I sliced the background apart and tucked the sentiment ("Giving Thanks" from Simon Says Stamp) right in between.   And of course, since this hop is sponsored by Pretty Pink Posh, I had to add some sequins!!   I used Graphite and Sparkling Clear....

I hope you have time to enter this hop....it's sure to be a fun one!   Now I'm off to go check out all the other amazing cards!   Have a great weekend!

Thanks A Bunch - And a Cool Technique!

Newton's Nook Designs Beautiful Blossoms | thank you card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

Hi there, crafty friends!    Today's card uses one of my very favorite Newton's Nook Designs stamp sets - Beautiful Blossoms!  I wanted to use the colors in the Inky Paws Challenge (going on now!   Click here!!), and I thought I'd try an oldie but goodie as far as techniques go!  I'm not sure of the technical name for this, but I'd call it a Distress Resist, I guess! I think it looks so cool....like I used a bunch of colors of embossing powder!   But nope!   That's just ink and plain old clear embossing powder!  Here's a photo tutorial of how I did it!

Distress Ink Tutorial | colorful embossed images | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

1. Gather your supplies - I used three shades of Hero Arts shadow inks (Mint Julep, Pale Tomato and Soft Cantaloupe), white cardstock, ink daubers, Versamark, clear embossing powder, Black Soot Distress Ink and the Beautiful Blossoms stamp set.

2. Use your daubers to blend the colors onto white cardstock.   Don't worry if it doesn't look great!

3. Position your stamp so it covers a little of each color and stamp using Versamark.   Heat emboss with clear EP.

4.  Here's where the magic happens!   Cover the entire thing with the Black Soot Distress Ink.   Go heavy so it is nice and bold!!

5.   Use a cloth or piece of paper towel to buff the image and get any residual black off of the clear embossing powder.

6.   Sit back and admire your awesome image! :)

That's it for today....hope you enjoyed this technique!   Let me know if you try it and how it turns out for you!
